Assistant Research Chemist - Los Angeles, CA

Overview:

The Assistant Research Chemist will work under direct supervision, conducting experiments and preparing finished product samples as guided by an Associate or above-level Research Chemist. The role involves supporting Research Chemists in their daily tasks, reporting to the Director of Technical Projects, and receiving specific instructions from Research Chemists. Internal collaboration with Product Development, Quality Control, and Production departments is essential for coordinating resources, production, and quality procedures. The incumbent is expected to maintain a positive work environment by fostering constructive relationships with colleagues and managers while meeting performance standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct experiments under direct supervision, ensuring accurate record-keeping and documentation of incoming raw materials and their organoleptic evaluations.

  • Execute shelf-life studies and stability testing on products according to study protocols.

  • Assist in compounding finished products for raw material and new ingredient evaluations under direct supervision.

  • Participate in compounding registration samples for international product registration under direct supervision.

  • Maintain comprehensive records of all completed work and perform related Quality Control (Q.C.) analysis and required tests on liquid and powder products.

  • Collaborate with other chemists on sample preparations and ensure sufficient lab sample inventory to meet customer requests.

  • Uphold a clean and organized working area, adhering to safety procedures and policies.

  • Occasionally lift weights up to 25 Kg as needed and undertake domestic and international travel as required.

  • Contribute to a cohesive team environment, plan individual workload in coordination with team members, and demonstrate regular, punctual attendance.

  • Fulfill other duties and special tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or a related discipline.

  • One to two years of working experience preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
