TEKsystems NOC Technician in Kansas City, Missouri

Job Title : Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician

Shift : 2nd shift (4pm-12am) – Either Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday. Flexibility for all shifts is preferred as technicians may be reassigned.

Our clientele ranges from large enterprises like Cerner and T-Mobile, to school districts, government entities, and small businesses.

Responsibilities and Daily Tasks :

  • Directly manage and monitor core network elements and customer interfaces off of switches/routers.

  • Maintain a constant understanding of Data network.

  • Lead and coordinate troubleshooting efforts during outages.

  • Prioritize dynamic workloads based on the state of the network.

  • Report to leadership on overall NOC performance.

  • Document support plans with manuals and standards.

  • Review network logs to discern state changes of network equipment.

  • Perform remote resolution of faults through various Element Management Systems (EMS).

  • Create and route tickets to appropriate markets for resolution.

  • Manage monitoring, repairs, installation, and turn up of complex services.

  • Undertake special projects as assigned.

    Required Skills :

  • 1-2 years experience in a customer-facing role.

  • Networking and VOIP Experience Preferred.

  • Troubleshooting/Network Monitoring.

  • Certifications (Net +, CCNA/CCENT).

  • Ability to multi-task and pay attention to details.

    Additional Information :

  • Telecommunications experience preferred.

  • Advanced Cisco routers and switches experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies.

  • Understanding of TCP/IP and the OSI model.

  • Intermediate computer knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Operating experience with network routing protocols; eBGP, iBGP, OSPF.

  • Operating experience with MPLS.

  • Operating experience with Metro Ethernet and QoS.

  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.

  • Ability to adapt to and promote organizational change.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Must possess a strong ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.

  • Excellent time management and problem-solving skills.

    Training : The first few weeks will include on-site training during the day. The duration of this training period may vary depending on the individual’s learning pace. Once the manager feels that you are ready, you will move to the night shift, which is more maintenance-focused. Day shifts involve more ticket handling and troubleshooting. The night shift is slower-paced but still requires a high level of focus.
