Daniel Boone Regional Library is searching for a great Development Manager to join our Team!

Our Development Manager is a 30 hour, benefits eligible position! A flexible schedule within a framework of Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM will be yours to work out with our Executive Director (your supervisor). Some evenings and weekends will be needed for special events.

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Executive Director, this position coordinates region-wide fund development, serves as liaison to the DBRL Foundation Board and manages fundraising efforts to secure philanthropic giving and grants. Duties require the exercise of a high level of skill, initiative, and independent judgment.

Essential Duties

  • Fundraising:
    • Work with the Executive Director to identify, develop and implement the organizational fundraising strategy, which includes sources of philanthropic giving, private donors, trusts, corporate foundations and grants.
    • Work with the Executive Director and other staff to determine appropriate use of private funds.
    • Coordinate and organize fundraising activities and events in collaboration with the Foundation board and library staff as needed.
    • Plan and develop marketing materials for fundraising activities and private giving in partnership with the Public Relations Manager.
    • Acknowledge donors and facilitate recognition as needed.
    • Develop and implement strategies to increase bequests.
    • Encourage and manage memorial and other private gifts to the library.
    • Develop and maintain donor awareness of library needs and cultivate relationships with donors.
    • Maintain an accurate database of donors and potential donors with assistance from the Executive Assistant.
    • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of donor records, conversations with donors or prospective donors, and of any financial information disclosed.
    • Keep informed about fundraising techniques, issues, and trends, especially in public libraries.
  • DBRL Foundation Board:
    • Serve as liaison to the DBRL Foundation Board.
    • Cultivate donor relationships and facilitate staff and Foundation relationships with donors.
    • Cultivate relationships with Foundation members and create board development opportunities.
    • Ensure preparation of Foundation meeting agendas and minutes and schedule meetings.
    • Prepare detailed and summary reports to the Executive Director and DBRL Foundation Board and work with DBRL CFO to ensure financial reports are provided timely.
    • Coordinate all aspects of the Annual Fund Campaign, including working with staff to identify projects, avenues of appeal, donor and prospect lists and gift receipts.
    • Oversee the development and management of Foundation policies and procedures.
  • Grants:
    • In collaboration with Library management and staff, identify potential grant opportunities and follow all appropriate procedures to apply for and implement grants within defined deadlines.
    • Contribute to grant planning meetings, budget planning, writing, editing, final preparation and coordination of applications. Share accountability for the reputation of DBRL by ensuring quality of work.

Salary:$69,305.60annual starting salary
